Droople offers two IoT connectivity solutions:

  • iLink LoRa: Uses a LoRa network for long-range, low-power communication. It requires a gateway, which can either use a SIM card or connect to the building’s network to create a LoRa signal. This solution is battery-powered.

  • iLink NB-IoT: Uses a cellular NB-IoT network, requiring no additional gateway but needing a power source (unlike iLink LoRa, which runs on battery).

The choice between iLink LoRa and iLink NB-IoT depends on your specific application and requirements:

  • If you have access to a power outlet nearby, iLink NB-IoT could be the ideal choice. This is because it allows you to connect up to 3 sensors to a single device and does not require a gateway. This makes it an easier solution for installations where power is available and simplicity is key.

  • If your installation requires a battery-powered solution and is located in areas where network coverage or a gateway is more suitable, then iLink LoRa would be the preferred option. It’s ideal for remote areas and offers long-range communication with minimal power consumption.

Our devices use cutting-edge connectivity technology, but their functionality depends on local network operators in each country.

If there is no network coverage in your area—such as when your smartphone has no signal—there is a high chance that our devices may also lack connectivity.

We recommend contacting us so that we can check the network coverage in your location and ensure proper operation.

The iLink LoRa Outdoor is a special version designed to be used in more challenging environments. It is larger than the standard iLink LoRa and comes equipped with two batteries for extended durability.

The installation of flow sensors depends on your existing plumbing infrastructure and technical expertise.

  • In most cases, a plumber is not strictly required. If you have experience working with plumbing fittings, you can follow our installation guide and complete the process yourself.

  • However, professional assistance is recommended when:
    • Cutting and integrating the sensor into the existing pipework.
    • Ensuring proper sealing and using the right fittings for your specific pipe material (copper, PVC, stainless steel, etc.).
    • Complying with local plumbing codes and regulations.

Plumbing systems have unique characteristics, including threaded fittings, compression connections, and different pipe diameters, which may require specific tools or adapters. If you are unsure, we strongly recommend consulting a qualified plumber to ensure a safe and leak-free installation.

Yes, installing flow sensors may require specific plumbing fittings. Here is a list of standard fittings commonly used during the installation process:

Water Dispenser

Faucet (under the sink)

Faucet (Laundry)

Toilet (flush)

Shower / Bathtub

Washing Machine

Yes, Droople strongly recommends installing a mesh strainer filter upstream of the flow sensor.

  • A filter prevents debris and particles from clogging or damaging the sensor.
  • This ensures accurate measurements and extends the lifespan of the sensor.
  • It is especially important in environments with hard water, sediment, or old plumbing systems.

For optimal performance, use a 100–300-micron mesh filter before the sensor.

BSP (British Standard Pipe) and NPT (National Pipe Thread) are types of threading standards used for piping and fittings.

  • BSP is commonly used in Europe and other parts of the world, with a thread profile that is cylindrical.
  • NPT is mostly used in the United States and features a tapered thread profile, providing a tighter seal.

You can easily identify the type of pressure sensor based on the markings on the sensor:

  • Water Pressure Sensor: The sensor will have a 0-10 bar range marked on it.
  • CO2 Pressure Sensor: The sensor will be marked with a 0-100 bar range.

We offer two types of gateways:

  1. Wi-Fi only gateway – Requires connection to an existing network.
  2. 4G gateway – Comes with a installed SIM card and is fully configured for immediate use.

For the 4G gateway, no additional setup is needed—the SIM card is already installed to ensure a plug-and-play experience.

The range of the LoRaWAN gateway depends on the environment and obstacles:

  • In an open space, the range can be several hundred meters.
  • Indoors, it depends on the type of walls and building structure. Typically, a single gateway can cover 1 to 2 floors in a standard building.

For optimal performance, we recommend testing the signal strength in your specific installation environment.

No, the SIM card is linked to the gateway and must be used exclusively for this device. It cannot be replaced with another SIM card or used for any other application.

A gateway can handle up to 1,000 LoRa iLink devices under optimal conditions. However, this number depends on the environment, including factors such as signal interference, building structure, and network congestion.

To properly clean your flow sensor, follow these steps:

  1. Use 70% Isopropyl Alcohol: Apply 70% isopropyl alcohol for effective cleaning. This concentration is strong enough to sanitize the sensor while being gentle on both metal and plastic components.
  2. Soft-Bristled Brush: If necessary, use a soft-bristled brush to carefully remove any stubborn residues or buildup. Be gentle to avoid damaging the delicate parts of the turbine.
  3. Rinse with Distilled Water: After cleaning, rinse the components thoroughly with distilled water. This ensures all traces of the cleaning agent are removed, preventing any potential issues during sensor operation.

To ensure the longevity of your iLink LoRa, it is essential to remove the battery before storing the device.

Once the battery is removed, store the device in a cool, dry place, away from extreme temperatures or humidity, to protect the hardware for future use.

If all your iLink devices are offline, it's likely that the gateway is the source of the issue.

Please refer to the Troubleshooting section on our support site for detailed instructions.

The temperature readings displayed on the platform depend on the type of sensor used. Some flow sensors have the temperature sensor located on the external body of the sensor, which measures the ambient temperature around the sensor. If the water hasn't flowed through the system for a while, the temperature reading might not be accurate, as it reflects the surrounding temperature instead of the water's actual temperature.

If precise temperature data is important for your application, please specify this during the order process, and our sales team will guide you towards sensors with an integrated temperature sensor that measures the water temperature internally.

No, under no circumstances should you press the reset button on the gateway. Doing so will erase all the pre-configured settings inserted by the Droople team, rendering the device unusable.

Additionally, pressing the reset button will void the warranty. If you experience any issues with your gateway, please contact Droople support for assistance.

The iLink LoRa requires a constant connection to its gateway in order to send data. If the gateway is not powered on or connected, the iLink will continuously perform an intensive search to reconnect to the gateway. This search process consumes a lot of energy, which can rapidly drain the battery.

To avoid this, ensure that the gateway is powered on and properly connected to maintain a stable connection with the iLink.

This is likely due to a short circuit with the sensor. While this is not dangerous, it can cause a rapid decrease in battery voltage.

We recommend contacting our customer support team for further assistance and to check the sensor and system setup. They can help identify and resolve the issue.
